Abstract
Jenderal Sudirman Road, Parepare City, South Sulawesi Province—Indonesia is a national road that has a type of 4-lane, 2-way divided road (4/2-T) with high traffic volume. The purpose of this study was to determine the geometric characteristics of the road. The 2021 road geometric design guidelines (PDGJ) served as the analytical framework for the quantitative descriptive research method. The geometric results of the 3 km long road with 12 bends obtained a Stopping Sight Distance (JPH) of 418.08 m, an Overtaking Sight Distance (JPM) of 218.536 m, the Horizontal Alignment and Vertical Alignment do not meet the standards of the 2021 Road Geometric Design Guidelines. Indicates that some road sections can increase the risk of accidents and the safety of road users. Further evaluation and improvements are needed on road sections that do not meet standards in order to improve driving safety and comfort. Such as adjusting the geometric design, installing warning signs, and implementing traffic engineering are recommended to reduce the potential for accidents at these locations.
